Pirates League, A Pirates Life for You!

My husband and I have been taking our two daughters to Disney since they were very young. My oldest daughter is 4, and is in love with everything Snow White. I have always wanted to take her to the Bibbidy Bobbidy Boutique, but when I asked her about it, she said she did not want to do it. Instead, she wanted to “turn into a pirate”. So, Pirates League, here we come! 

Located just outside of Pirates of the Caribbean ride, you will find the entrance to Pirates League. 

You need reservations for this make over, and you will check in at this desk. 

While you wait to be taken in, you can decide which makeover you want. . My daughter chose the Empress Package, so everything you see will be from that package.

All the cast members working here are all dressed like pirates themselves, and it is just a very neat environment! Once you are called back, whoever is getting made over will get to turn this wheel and draw a “name” out of the treasure box. The cast member will take you over to that large book you can see in the picture below, and match that up with your birthday to create your personalized pirate name! My daughter’s name for the rest of the day was Kelly Starfish. 

We then went into the main room where all the kids turn into pirates and mermaids. She sat down and was able to choose her nail polish color first. (Notice the Figment she wanted to bring in with her). 

Once her nails, hair and make-up were complete, she stood up and was announced as now being a pirate. All the cast members joined in and you could hear ARRGGHHH all over the room. It was such a neat experience that she still talks about.

On our way out, we were taken to a private room to have photos taken which could be purchased for an additional fee. 

Here is a tattoo that was placed on her hand while we were there.

She was given this treasure bag full of the goodies that was used on her that day. I feel like the amount of things we were given to be able to dress up at home, plus the awesome experience is very much worth the money spent on this make over!

Mickey's PhilharMagic

Mickey's Philharmagic is by far one of my favorites throughout all of Disney! My family does it several times every time we visit Magic Kingdom. It is located in Fantasyland, just beside Peter Pan’s Flight, and it opened in 2003. It does offer Fastpass, although I have never needed it here. 

When waiting in line,

 you will come to the bin containing the yellow 3D glasses for you to pick up. 

Once you have these in hand, you will be shown to a holding area just before entering the theater. 

When you are able to walk into the theater, the screen will be on your left, so as you are looking at the doors to the theater, the further to the left you stand, the closer you will be able to get to the front. 

I personally think the best location for the 3D effects is in the middle of rows 4 or 5, although of course you will be asked to move all the way down the row before choosing a seat. For this reason, I usually let a descent crowd walk in ahead of us, so they have to move all the way down. My family is then usually left sitting in the middle of the theater. 

This show features the largest seamless projection screen in the world, at 150 feet long and 28 feet high. It is almost a full 180 degrees when the show is in full effect, needless to say, it is pretty awesome! 

The entire show is about 12 minutes. You will get to see many characters in this film including Donald, Mickey, Lumiere, Ariel, 

Flounder, Simba, Aladdin, Jasmin, Peter Pan and Tinkerbell. 

My daughters have been watching this show since my oldest was one. Neither of them have ever been scared at any time, they have always loved it. I have heard on a few occasions, some young toddlers cry due to being scared. Let your child begin wearing the glasses, and if they act scared, I have seen many kids not wearing glasses at all, and still enjoyed it. All the 3D effects are fun things, nothing scary. At the very end of the show, Donald Duck appears to fly out of the screen using the 3D effects, but then you will hear a crash behind you. When you turn around, you will see that Donald has crashed into the back wall. He will kick his feet, but then give up and “fall into the wall” where he cannot be seen. This is the part that usually bothers the most kids from what I have seen. I told both my kids when they were younger that this was going to happen, and they laughed when they saw it, since they were expecting it. 

Just outside of the theater is a small store just to the right of the exit.

Enchanted Tales with Belle

Enchanted Tales with Belle is one of the attractions of new Fantasyland. With that being said, it is quite popular! As of now, there is not an option for fastpass, so I have a recommendation. I suggest as soon as you enter the park (preferably at park opening), head straight to this attraction. On your way there, swing by and get a fastpass to a nearby attraction. You may also take advantage of this attraction during Extra Magic Hours offered to guests of Walt Disney World Resorts.

Throughout most of Disney, many of the upgrades are including enhancements to the waiting queues. As you enter the queue for this attraction, you will spend most of your wait time outside, following along a winding pathway lined by small trees and flowers.

It sets the perfect atmosphere, as I honestly felt like I was stepping into Belle’s world! You can even see Beast’s castle in the distance.

Once you enter indoors, you will be in Maurice’s cottage. You will not spend a long time in this area, so be sure to soak in all the neat details.

I loved seeing a portrait of young Belle with her mother.

As you move a little further along, you will enter Maurice’s workshop, and come to a magic mirror, which will help “transport” you inside Beast’s castle.

This is where the fun really begins! A small group of you will be introduced to Madame Wardrobe along with a cast member. Here, Madame Wardrobe will ask for volunteers to re-enact “Beauty and the Beast”.

Volunteers can be adults or children, and will be given props to play characters including Maurice, Phillipe, Chip, Mrs. Potts and the Beast along with a few others. This is my oldest daughter that was chosen to be a salt shaker. 

Please note that it is meant for ONLY the people who are playing roles in the re-enactment to be able to take pictures with Belle, but the times I have been there, they allowed all the kids to take picture with her afterwards. If you are unable to get good pictures with your camera, be sure to grab one of the photopass cards the photographer will be handing out at the end. It will include all the photos taken during your time there.

Once all the volunteers have been chosen, the group will move into the Beast’s Library. Here you will then be greeted by Lumiere, followed by Belle.

The re-enactment will take place and will end with music and Belle posing for a few photos. Here are some photos of my little salt shaker making her way around the room. 

Belle will not sign autographs, but be sure to get a bookmark with her signature on the back on your way out. The cast members should be handing them out as you leave. This is what the front and back of the book mark looks like. 

This is a real treat for everyone in the family, and a must do in my opinion!
