Capt. Cook's at Disney's Polynesian Resort

Nestled in a quiet corner, on the first floor of the Polynesian Resort, is Capt Cook’s. This is an amazing quick service dining location. My family has always loved everything about the Polynesian Resort, and we are huge fans of ‘Ohana’s Character Breakfast as well. This location accepts the Disney Dining Plan, quick service and snack credits.
The atmosphere is so inviting, and there is even an outdoor patio where you can choose to dine as well.

Trying to decide what to order is difficult here, as everything we have had has been delicious.

On our trip in May 2013, we went with the Cheese Flatbread,

Sweet and Sour Chicken Stir Fry, which is my favorite,

And grilled cheese from the kid’s menu.

Drink and side selections:

There is a great selection of desserts here as well!

Overall, this is a nice dining experience with unique options that have that Polynesian flare!

Animal Kingdom Lodge

On our most recent visit to Walt Disney World, we decided to stay somewhere new again. Considering our kids were ages 4 and 1, we knew they would enjoy Animal Kingdom Lodge, we just did not know HOW MUCH they would love it!

First, my oldest daughter’s all time favorite place to stay (mine too) has always been the Contemporary Resort. She refers to it as the “Monorail Hotel”, since she thinks the fact that the monorail actually rides through the building is the coolest thing ever! When I told her we were going to stay at Animal Kingdom Lodge, at first she was not happy about it, but now, she is requesting to stay there again!

Now, there are two building that make up the resort, the Jambo House and Kidani Village. Jambo House is the main building, and Kidani is the newer addition to the resort. We stayed at Kidani Village, so that is what I will be reviewing today.

One difference that I really like about this resort than others we have stayed at, is the fact that they have a parking garage!! This made life very easy for us, since we always drive to Disney. The garage is divided into sections, we parked in the Rafiki parking deck. The elevator took us directly inside the building, and quite close to our room, might I add!

As we were walking into the front of Kidani to check in, we were amazed at how beautiful all the details were. This was the front of the building as we entered in.

We checked in, got our Key to the World Card, and started down the intricately themed hallways.

The room was simply awesome. We stayed in a Deluxe Studio, Standard View room, but we had a nice surprise waiting for us. Standard view in Disney basically means no view, for the most part, a view of a park lot. Our view had some of the fencing for the animals, but we could still see the savannah! We spent a good amount of time on our balcony watching the animals.

So back to the room……. The Deluxe Studio has a queen bed with a full size sleeper sofa, a wet bar, small fridge and microwave.

The bathroom was beautiful and had plenty of space.

Check out a close up of the carpet, can you see the hidden Mickey within the animal print?

Now let me explain WHY my daughter loves this place so much. I have to admit, this was pretty neat! Kidani Village has this outdoor patio just out the back of the building. Every night, they start a fire, and hand out night vision goggles to watch the animals with. And best of all, there is no charge for this activity.

Here is a view of the back of the main building at Kidani.

There are rocking chair situated around the fire pit, which is perfectly for relaxing after a fun filled day in the parks. Here are my two girls enjoying the patio.

As soon as the sun sets, the line starts forming for everyone to have a turn with the night vision goggles. Luckily for us, there was only a few other people there that night, and we were first in line.

Here is my oldest checking out the views with her goggles.

To sum this experience up, this resort has a very comfy feel, beautiful detail, and the kids really love the animals!

50's Prime Time Cafe

One of my family’s go to places to dine is Hollywood and Vine while at Hollywood Studios. We love to eat lunch there with the Disney Junior Characters. Well, Hollywood and Vine shares restrooms with 50’s Prime Time Café. We find ourselves peeking over to that restaurant, and always claiming we will eat there the next time. This last trip, that is exactly what we did. We tried it for the first time, and LOVED it!

We had advanced dining reservations, so once we checked in, we waited for just a few minutes in this room. The kids enjoyed the couches and televisions.

When our names were called, we heard “Morris kids, time for dinner!”

We then took a walk back into Mama’s Kitchen. Be sure to ask for a table close to a television, so your family can watch great shows from the 1950’s such as Dick van Dyke, Dennis the Menace, Car 54, Mickey Mouse Club and many more.

All the wait staff refer to themselves as your cousin, aunt or uncle. It is so much fun to play along!  Our server was “Uncle Gary”, and I can not say enough about how great he was. He got on my husband for not passing out the silverware to me and my daughters, made sure we kept our elbows off the table, read and explained the menu to my girls, and so on. Be sure to mind your manners, because just like at mama’s table, you will get yourself in trouble if you don’t!

For all the mothers of young children, you understand why I took this next picture! I am always impressed when we have Crayola crayons at the table to color with versus the no name brand, barely colored wax that break when you pick them up!

When our food arrived, we were quite excited! My husband ordered the Grilled Pork Loin:

I had A Sampling of Mom’s Favorite Recipes which includes fried chicken, pot roast and meatloaf:

For dessert, Cousin Gary brought us the viewfinder that shows you pictures of all the sweet options to choose from. Man did this bring back memories of childhood!

We chose the 50’ Boston Cream Parfait to share:

The kids chose do it yourself ice cream sundae:

Overall, the food was perfect, no complaints whatsoever. The service was great and we all had a fun time. We will certainly plan to go back again on our next trip.
